Omega 3-1™
Heart, Joint & Skin Support
Recent research highlights the importance of getting Omega fatty acids. Fatty acids - Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 – are the “good” fats important for cellular, heart and metabolic health. Many of these fatty acids are essential - meaning your body needs them but cannot make them so they must be obtained from diet. Omega 3-1 contains essential and nonessential fatty acids found in Salmon Oil, Flaxseed Oil and Borage Seed Oil.
It is important to maintain an appropriate balance of omega-3 and omega-6 (another essential fatty acid) in the diet as these two substances work together to promote health. These essential fats are both examples of polyunsaturated fatty acids, or PUFAs. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and most omega-6 fatty acids tend to promote inflammation. An inappropriate balance of these essential fatty acids contributes to the development of disease while a proper balance helps maintain and even improve health. A healthy diet should consist of roughly two to four times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. The typical American diet tends to contain 14 to 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids and many researchers believe this imbalance is a significant factor in the rising rate of inflammatory disorders in the United States.
Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation and help prevent certain chronic diseases such as heart disease and arthritis. These essential fatty acids appear to be particularly important for cognitive and behavioral function as well as normal growth and development.

Flaxseed Oil
Flaxseed oil is derived from the seeds of the flax plant. Flaxseed oil and flaxseed contain substances that promote good health. Flaxseed oil is rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential fatty acid that appears to be beneficial for heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis and a variety of other health conditions. Flaxseed, in addition to ALA, contains a group of chemicals called lignans that may play a role in the prevention of cancer.
ALA, as well as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), belongs to a group of substances called omega-3 fatty acids. EPA and DHA are found primarily in fish while ALA is mostly found in flaxseed oil and other vegetable oils. Although similar in structure, the benefits of ALA, EPA, and DHA are not necessarily the same.
Borage Seed Oil
Borage seed oil is one of the richest sources of gamma linolenic acid plus it contains important vitamins and minerals. Borage seed oil has been used for treating the joint pain and swelling (inflammation) of arthritis, as well as certain skin conditions (e.g., atopic dermatitis), and inflammation of the lungs/breathing passages. It has also been used for symptoms of menopausal disorders.
Daily consumption of borage seed oil has been shown to have beneficial effects on acne, allergies, cardiovascular problems, dehydration, dry skin, eczema, fatigue, PMS, psoriasis, osteo-arthritis, weight-problems, mood swings and liver problems.
Salmon oil
Salmon oil contains omega 3 fatty acids - an excellent source to boost up HDL (the Good cholesterol) in your blood . Omega 3 fatty acids in salmon oil, indeed, is a type of polyunsaturated fatty acids which can only be supplied by food sources. A study chaired by Gary J. Nelson, Ph.D., of the U.S. Dept of Agriculture's Western Human Nutrition Research Center in San Francisco, showed that HDL increased by 10% by just eating 20 days of a high salmon diet!
For years we’ve seen thousands of people get significant arthritic pain relief from Omega 3 Salmon Oil. Fish oil has a long traditional history of being a safe, natural and effective pain reliever. And this is supported by solid scientific research.
Omega 3 salmon oil has been proven to help relieve rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, lupus, and other autoimmune inflammatory conditions. Plus, rather than causing heart attacks like Vioxx and other cox-2 drugs, omega 3 fish oil is nature’s most effective protector against heart disease and stroke.
American Heart Association indeed updated its guidelines in 2002 to recommend the consumption of fish oil supplements such as salmon oil to certain groups of patients with heart disease such as those needing to lower triglycerides.
